The freezing and thawing of the ground can cause issues with posts. The frozen, icy roads can cause even greater damage to your fence and possibly the well being of someone driving their vehicle past your fence
For exteriors is best to use red wood opposed to cedar. This does not mean you should not treat the wood with some type of sealer. if you want a wood fence to last you should have it treated every 6 moths if possible.
Do these need to be concreted in or can I pound them 4 feet into the ground for a short 4 foot privacy fence? I'm just wondering if 4 feet in the ground would provide enough stability without all the concreting.

ReplyDeleteWith the cost of a bag off concrete at around $6. I would go ahead and concrete them in. Depends on the frost level in your area, for how deep you go.
